A good guide for me as I'm a know nothing about it. Good instructions with enphasis on detail.
Some books have a section entitled 'how to read this book'. This book has all the relevant information. Please note that I have a pretty high IQ, was an Honors student in high school and college and I use to tutor English; so it's not a problem with my reading skills in any way.I'm also a contractor so I have no lack of mechanical reasoning skills.The book is written in the order in which you'd be doing drywalling. Stick to accurate information about drywall only.Overall I liked the book and I felt it to be a worthy addition to my library- but found it poorly written and trying to cover too many topics in addition to drywalling.
This was a book about Drywall. It also had some contradicting information about cement board and moisture resistant drywall regarding wet areas. Why it explained this I have no idea. It briefly talked about how to cut holes in cement board.
I'd find myself reading the text and then I'd turn the page and there's a brief overview of what you're reading along with other techniques. It's just a tad bit poorly organized and I'm sure it may get a few readers confused or frustrated.One section talked about Cement board (my specialty- I'm a tile contractor). My only issue with the book was how it was written. That's what this book needs.
It left for a 'broken up' reading experience. My problem is with the pictures in the book. I found myself reading the details in the pictures and then going back to the original text I was reading.
It was complete and gave me some insights to sheet rocking that I had not heard before. I was very pleased with this book.
Remember that a finish is only as good as your first coat.and truely your first cut and your first nail.so inside you find tips for cutting and placing drywall.an excellent sction on ceilings and some advice on tools and mud compounds too.well worth it. I have met and Myron at a JLC show and sat through a couple of his seminars/demos.he really knows his tuff and is straight forward and up to date on his field and technique. This book is an excellent read.easy to understand and will help you take your finish technique to the next level.
Sure it's got some opinions in it, but a diversity of opinion is what makes craftsmanship so rewarding in the first place. This book is better than any single manufacturer's literature out there. Five stars. I'll keep this short and sweet. I work in the industry as a union employee.
